Larry Walshe Studios x Maison Flâneur

When wedding designer Larry Walshe set the scene for a recent celebration, it isn't with matchy-matchy decor or a rigid theme. Instead, the tables are alive with personality — sculptural objects, playful touches, and colourful pieces that looked collected, not coordinated.

Among them were a few of the Maison Flâneur's favourites: lemon-shaped candle holders, ceramic cheeses and aubergines by Diego Nine, and hand-built pieces by Hodge Pots and Rosie Gore — each one bringing its own story, colour, and character to the table.

At the heart of the tables, the lemon ceramic candle holders — sunny, whimsical, and full of Sicilian charm. Walshe used them to bring brightness and warmth, paired with hand-painted cheese and aubergine ceramics by the same brilliant Diego Nine, which added just the right amount of humour without ever feeling kitsch.

On others, he chose Hodge Pots’ sculptural candle holders, made from reclaimed stoneware clay and glazed in vibrant colours. Their irregular forms and joyful palette brought a sense of texture and movement, while the Green Check Scalloped Candle Holders by Rosie Gore grounds the whole look with their soft pattern and generous organic shape.

"I always begin with the mood. The emotion. I ask: how should this table feel? Is it intimate andromantic? Joyful and sun-drenched? Or perhaps a little theatrical, with a quiet sense of drama?"

What we love about this table is how unpretentious it feels. Every item has its place, but nothing is too perfect or overthought. There’s contrast and colour, quiet moments and playful ones. It’s the kind of table that invites people to lean in, ask questions, and feel at ease.

His projects are a perfect reminder that a great table isn’t about rules — it’s about rhythm, mood, and a few good objects that make everything sing.
