Carpets from the city of Qom are absolute luxurious classics. The city is located in central Iran, south of the capital Tehran. Qom is known worldwide for its natural silk, which is often used for the carpets. Silk carpets from Qom are among the most expensive Persian carpets that can be bought today. The fine carpets have patterns from very different regions of Iran. However, the patterns are predominantly floral. Medallions can be found as well as elaborately knotted hunting scenes. Wool carpets from Qom usually have up to 600,000 knots per square meter. Silk carpets even have up to 1,200,000 knots per square meter.
