These aqua and white colour block baskets are ethically produced in three handy sizes, woven from ethically sourced sisal grass by artisan women in rural Kenya. Basket weaving within a group enables women to support their families for the first time in their lives with a flexible income in the dry seasons, where farming becomes an unsustainable income stream. The Basket Room have partnered with this weaving group for several years now and they spend time with them in person as often as tgey can; these women are highly skilled at creating an array of colours through scrupulous hand dyeing. Basket weaving is in these women’s blood: all have woven from a young age and will continue to pass this precious legacy on to future generations – all thanks to your purchases.
