THE FLÂNEUR COLLECTIVE
London Home by Lehlo Interiors
For many homeowners, the desire for a "designer home" often comes at the cost of history. We are frequently told that to create something truly expressive, we must first clear the canvas. However, Lehlo Interiors took a different path with London 53. The brief was not to erase the memories embedded in the walls of this much-loved family residence, but to weave them into a new, more vibrant tapestry.
The goal was a "designer’s home" in every sense—expressive, bespoke, and unapologetically colourful—yet one that remained deeply functional for the rhythms of a busy modern family.
The greatest challenge of London 53 was the family’s profound attachment to the house. In interior design, the "familiar" can often be the enemy of the "bold." The task was to introduce high-concept design and expressive materials while ensuring the space still felt like home.
This required a rigorous focus on practicality. A designer’s home is only successful if it can be lived in; thus, every creative choice was weighed against the requirements of long-term durability. The result is a home that doesn't demand its inhabitants walk on eggshells, but rather invites them to engage with the beauty of their surroundings.
The architectural breakthrough for the project lay in its functional organization. Rather than a series of generic rooms, the house was reimagined through the lens of "zoning for life."
The layout was strategically divided to provide dedicated environments: a vibrant, energetic floor for the children and a secluded, private retreat for the parents. This allowed for a unique design language in every room—a "story within a story"—where bold colors and expressive materials could define individual spaces while maintaining a cohesive narrative throughout the property.

Apply NowIn a home defined by bespoke details, several elements emerge as the protagonists of the design:
The Formal Reception: Here, a sculptural dining table serves as a piece of functional art, balanced by a fireplace clad in reflective ceramic tiles. This interplay of light and form creates a space that feels both celebratory and grounded.
The Tactile Layer: Custom joinery provides the house with its structural "bones," while bespoke furniture and hand-designed rugs introduce a layer of softness and individuality. These are not merely furnishings; they are the textures that invite touch and evoke a sense of permanence.
The success of London 53 is best measured by the clients’ response. They found that the house had become a true reflection of their family’s identity—a space that supports the quiet moments of retreat just as effortlessly as it hosts the energy of entertaining.
London 53 stands as a testament to the idea that a home can be both a high-design statement and a warm, lively sanctuary. It is a space that does not feel "finished" in a static sense, but rather one that continues to evolve naturally as the family grows within it.
