Studio Atkinson, led by Susie Atkinson, crafts inviting, timeless spaces that engage all senses. With years of experience and broad knowledge, the studio prioritizes understanding clients' aspirations, and collaborating closely to create individual and bespoke interiors. Their design philosophy centres on enhancing a space's architecture while maintaining sophistication and comfort.

Meet The Designer
Driven by a passion for handmade craftsmanship, Susie Atkinson transitioned from culinary arts and city life to interior design. After training at The Inchbold School of Design, a pivotal role with Chester Jones provided invaluable experience in architecture, decoration, and furniture design. This mentorship honed skills in traditional upholstery, curtain making, and client management. Now leading a team of ten, her portfolio spans private residences and high-end commercial spaces, including Beaverbrook Hotel and Golf Club, a classic motor yacht, and international projects from Greece to the Caribbean.
Launching her own business, Susie balanced family life with creative projects, notably contributing to the early Soho House Group's varied and distinct aesthetics. Studio Atkinson thrives on discovering artisans and exploring new materials, embracing the constant influx of inspiration.

I was taught traditional methods of upholstery, curtain making, and the skills required to manage not only clients but also the multiple tradesmen and women working on sites.

Tips from the Experts
Favourite hack as an interior designer:
I like putting wall lights in window reveals or niches - especially if there's nice joinery or architectural details as it highlights them
My biggest design inspiration (person, place, era):
Biggest design inspiration - for me it's the Georgian era as I love the architecture of that period - beautiful joinery, panelling, details, skirtings & cornices
How to make a big impact on a small budget
Big impact on small budget - use of paint colours and sourcing fabrics from lesser known textile suppliers, like the Cloth House, the Cloth Shop, Merchant & Mills, Etsy - all have wonderful plains, ticking stripes, checks and printed florals
