This exquisite KWOI hand woven floor basket has been produced in Ghana by a member of a weaving cooperative. Boasting tribal patterns of teal, brown and black, this round storage basket will bring a dash of ethical style to any corner of the home. Fill with blankets, kindling, craft projects or toys – you’ll keep finding new uses for yours! Every small woven basket in this collection is unique – made once and sold once.

KWOI is made from robust veta vera grass—a fantastic material for producing durable baskets. The grass is hand-rolled before being woven by a skilled member of the basket room's partner weaving cooperative in Northern Ghana. These grasses grow locally and are picked from the tip, allowing the root to continue to grow.

Farming is the basis of most Ghanaian weavers’ incomes, but drought makes it increasingly difficult for these people to make ends meet. Basket weaving brings the opportunity to earn a valuable second income that’s flexible. Each woven basket is supplied with some information about the weaving cooperative who made it.
