At Kalinko, A notable feature is making simple, everyday things exceptionally beautiful. The makers to live in a world where everyday objects are made with care, valued for longer, and connected to the people who make them.

Named after the Burmese word for forest, the Taw Bin is made by Nga Nyi by hand from a single piece of Burmese rain tree wood. No joins. No glue. No nails. Just rich chocolate tones, the swirling grain of the wood, and a beautifully smooth finish.

Bins may sit on the fringes of a room or beneath a desk, but they can and should sing loudly enough to pause the passing glance.

Each piece is handmade. They can take days, or even weeks to finish; you can’t make long-lasting, beautiful homeware in a hurry. They use local, sustainable materials where possible, and techniques honed over generations which stand the test of time.
