With a focus on asymmetry through the spontaneity of shapes, Amanita Labs creates objects that adapt to and enhance their environment. Each design has been carefully considered and produced in limited batches to support sustainability while promoting individuality.
Something that is handmade is filled with imperfections but each imperfection in this pair is identical. They are carbon copies of eachother. They seem to have been moulded rather than handmade or sculpted. They smell like a chemical and respond badly to hot cups. Especially porcelain cups. They are heavy and the cork base is good to protect your tables, but they just feel like an inauthentic attempt to be unique, organic or crafted. Even if the company wanted to give the impression of crafted, I think they should have at least made 2 different coasters in a pair, rather than 2 identical coasters.
