"I like to use layers of pattern that don't conventionally match - I am much more interested in using pattern when it is not immediately obvious, similar to fashion where a tweed jacket looks incredible with a floral shirt."

Tips from the Experts
My biggest design inspiration (person, place, or era):
Very often your starting point with a project might seem overwhelming and the basic canvas of a house might not have much to say for itself, so this is where vision is key. Start by thinking about what you want your room to say. Decide what your priorities are and what you want the space to do and then work in the design detail from there. I think you have to have a hook to start with, that one item that starts you off which might be a client's existing piece, a much loved artwork or a fabric with a very definite pattern that you work around. Put everything on the table - your client’s wish list, their existing furniture, colours that inspire and the pieces begin to fall into place.
How to make a big impact on a small budget?
Pick your investments carefully. You can invest in a few key elements that make such a difference to the look and feel of a space - good upholstery is key, as is good lighting, both really elevate a space. In a bedroom good bed linen is a brilliant tool, with perfect white bed linen you can leave everything else in the room undone and it just sort of works.
My favourite hack as an interior designer:
An eclectic narrative is at our core, and our natural gait is to fuse modern with traditional whilst always retaining classic bones. We thrive on colour and respect a good clash - it’s a very important theme throughout our designs - I love rooms where lots of fabrics are required and where you can go to town with layers, lots of pattern and texture. I like to use layers of pattern that don't conventionally match - I am much more interested in using pattern when it is not immediately obvious, similar to fashion where a tweed jacket looks incredible with a floral shirt.
