Spring Tablescapes
Whenever winter is finally over and we are in the throes of a newer, greener season, we find ourselves itching for a little refresh at home. We tend to spring clean, overhaul our décor and do our best to breathe new life into our houses.
And one of the spots where it’s easiest to bring some springier décor in the dining room (or kitchen!). It’s accessible, it’s a relatively small area, and its rife for the picking when it comes to spring decorating ideas.
Here are our very favourite pieces for creating the perfect spring tablescape.
Have it covered.
No table, even that old IKEA number, will ever be ugly again with the help of a well-chosen (and well-ironed) tablecloth. Channel warm weather spring picnics and Campari in the Campo with a fun gingham tablecloth in rosy hues.
Be a fungi.
Or girl, for that matter. Bring the outdoors in with playful hand-embroidered placemats. These ‘shroomy mats are perfect layered over a tablecloth, especially in a red check, but they work equally well on their own.
Go au naturel.
We love a simple ceramic plate as much as the next person, but when it comes to springy tablescapes, we’re really aiming for a riot of colour and texture. When we’re feeling particularly wild, we reach for our stunning Tomato Green Stoneware Alchemille Leaf Plates to emulate Mother Nature’s best work. If we’re feeling more subdued, we opt for a hint of green rather than the whole garden.
Remember pastel’s not just for Easter.
Who needs Easter baskets when you’ve got beautiful, candy-coloured glassware? We like to mix and match styles to keep things feeling organic, pairing hand-blown Italian water glasses with sweet, nearly translucent wine glasses from Jore Copenhagen.
Not-so-silverware.
We don’t like to go too crazy when it comes to cutlery, as you want a set that’ll grab attention but go with everything. Classic shapes with a striking but subtle hue work no matter the season, while lovely, hammered forks and knives bring visual and textural interest to the table.
