Where once these weavers would undertake the long journey to Nairobi to sell their work at markets, The Basket Room now places regular orders with them, enabling these women to work sustainably from home. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan style=\"font-weight: 400;\"\u003eThe bulk of basket production takes place during Kenya’s dry seasons, since most of these weavers are from farming communities who rely on farming (and rainfall) to feed, support and clothe their families. When farming slows down, weaving work picks up the slack.
