In Morocco, where this throw’s handwoven by artisans from the Tangier-Tetouan region, it’s called a fouta. And following tradition, this one’s colour is typical of north Morocco – striped in bright shades of red, blue and yellow, with pom pom fringing along the edge. It’s soft, thanks to the use of natural cotton, but its bold colour and eccentric details will add edge to any space.
Foutas are used as shawls in Mediterranean and African countries, to keep their wearers covered from the hot sun. Follow suit and bring yours to picnics to sit on, to the pool to dry off – or drape it across your sofa for easy-access warmth in cooler months.
