On Brand: Debonnaire, London

Hidden to the passer-by, Debonnaire is a by-appointment-only showroom is the ultimate Flaneur’s treasure trove tucked away in a quiet residential street in Knightsbridge.; from Venetian hand-blown decanter to Nepalese cashmere, Debonnaire von Bismarck has traveled to the four corners of the world to bring luxury back in her lavish London location.

What is Debonnaire?

Debonnaire was established in 2014 out of a passion for sourcing rare and ethical gifts from travels to the most exotic and far-flung places around the world.

The colourful space has been meticulously designed by the Dutch-born designer Marie-Anne Oudejans. The interiors, painted by hand from wall to ceiling by the artists of the City Palace in Jaipur and decorated with hand-crafted and decorated furniture, effortlessly provides a warm, friendly and discreet way to shop for those looking to buy a unique gift with a story behind it.

Artisans from across the globe are celebrated and nurtured, from hand-stitched ‘story-telling’ cashmere shawls from Nepal, leather keep-sake boxes which are hand-painted with an artwork of your choice in India, to woven bags from a tribe in Venezuela to bishops and cardinal socks from Rome. Debonnaire’s own brand of men’s and women’s clothing, small leather goods, and luggage tags provide a constant source of humour and fun, which we believe is integral to the art of present giving and the brand.

As is the way gifts are wrapped in discreet black boxes, topped with brightly-coloured pom-poms.

Who is Debonnaire?

The incredible Countess Debonnaire von Bismarck, model, stylist, but also fabulous Flâneuse, founded Debonnaire by turning her treasure-hunting passion into a business.  She took inspiration from her delicate sense of style and magical adventures travels through Peru, Russia, and India, to build this extra-ordinary (believe us it’s actually an understatement) English exotic trove.

Debonnaire was always determined to discover, whichever the destination, whether souks, bazaars, or vintage markets. In March 2014, she and her business partner Judith Loof, flew to India with an idea in mind. In October 2014, The Debonnaire showroom was ready to open, with an exclusive cotton collection and a million treasures from around the world.

Believe us, you will want to bring everything home!
